About the artwork;

Ryoan-ji Rinzai Zen temple, and its iconic rock garden, dating back to the late 1400’s.  The abbot’s garden is considered to be the supreme example of an abstract dry garden and is thought to be the first of its kind. Naturally then, tourists, school groups, and humans of all stripes want to visit this sacred space.  Arriving at opening time, we cherished 5 minutes of an unobstructed view of the gardens, then in a heart beat, the view changed.
