My dear Magda & #mollythebordercollie We spent 2 weeks together this past spring here in Durango while Mike was riding across AZ, UT and CO. The three of us had sublime moments….like this. I miss my beloved Molly so much. I cry and cry and cry and am so grateful for her loving, giving, energetic presence in my life for nearly 14 years. Did you know that researchers have found that a dog decreases anxiety and increases levels of oxytocin (the love hormone). Staring in one another’s eyes creates a positive oxytocin feedback loop between dogs and their owners. I so get that! Another study found that kissing dogs mutually increased oxytocin levels. “We associate the physical response of the oxytocin release to our connection with our dog and that is a lot of what we miss when they pass.” #hugyourdog

8/14 we helped our precious Molly-dog go to the Other Side. In this photo she looks so tired. Which she was…carrying the burden of a large tumor in her belly and her little body and legs giving out in the last days. Just shy of her 14th birthday, she graced the lives of many with her boundless energy, love and special doggie wisdom. The tears continue to flow each day as I “see” her in the house or yard; laying in her spots, ever extending the invitation to play with one of her 97 toys (yes literally that many) enthusiastically greeting our mail person or UPS delivery guy. I miss tucking her in at night. We had a ritual and with it I would say, “I love you, I love you, I love you, you are a SUCH A GOOD GIRL”. She would give me those knowing, black eyes of love in return.
There are multitudes of you out there who know this kind of loss and grief. I feel for you too and know that the love we receive from our pets is, bar none, truly extraordinary. Molly has helped me wake up to my innate goodness because she always let me know I was ok just the way I am. She was a true role model for authenticity, for a pure heart of love, for attentiveness and for living in the eternal now.

The Four Keys of Living Mindfully

This 5 week course combines eight 30-minute videos produced and taught by Mindful Life Program (MLP) co-founder John Bruna, along with five weekly live Zoom classes facilitated by certified MLP teacher Deborah Sussex.
